Wish I’d bought this hat awhile back. Would have saved on a lot of stitches. Also looks great and makes me wear a hat more.
I found out that the impact protection leaves the back part of the head uncoverd/unprotect, that means I will be hit by the board in the back of the head when the board is coming with the wave from behind.
it already happen to me once, and I bougth the hat so it will not happen again.
I think you have to think it better for the 2.0 version.

Reef Ranger 1.0 - Surf Hat + Protection - M/L I’ve had my smile surf hat just over 12months now and have surfed with it a once or twice a week. The glue has disintegrated and the foam padding insert has been washed away leaving just the hard plastic shell. While the hat fitted well and felt comfortable (before the foam pad separated), the brim isn’t stiff enough. Meaning if you have enough speed on a wave it often blows down over your eyes.
The hat looks to be of excellent quality and fits very well (even on a larger head). I would have preferred the protection to cover the back part a bit more, a small plus that would have been appreciated.
Perfect surf helmet, it’s is comfortable and helps me feel safe in the summer crowds!
I noticed that the promotion is geared to wave surfing but I’m using the hat for kite surfing and - no suprise - that works pretty well too!
Sadly, it doesnt protect the whole head. I was really hoping it would.

Stoked! Finally got my kid to wear a helmet. Worth every penny. Would be nice to see the product in shops around Southern California. We have a lot of rocks and long boarders with no leashes.
Love the hat a lot! Didn’t expect it would stay so well on my head while surfing. I’m super happy with it and also with the excellent customer service!
This is the 2nd SMILE surf hat i have purchased! The Medium was too large, the XS/S is a better fit, but the brim of the hat is considerably smaller. Please make a small hat for grown women who also need sun protection!? 🙏🏼
